Project Description

By Beverly Cleary

My quick notes: With a four and seven-year-old at home, Ramona came to us at a great time. It was a change of pace from our previous chapter books, and I found the connectability to my little ones to be spot on. Ramona is dealing with self-doubt, a bit of confusion as to who she is, emotional control – all things common to youngsters. I found this book to be extremely useful in creating social/emotional skill-based conversations. In the end, she perseveres through the ups and downs to find herself exactly where she’s supposed to be. (NOTE: I especially loved the parts about her learning to read, as my daughter is in this exact stage in life, and it’s fascinating to watch/be a part of.)
