Have you ever heard a song, interview or soundbite of some sort, and you remember exactly where you were/what you were doing when you heard it? Maybe it wasn’t revolutionary in the standard sense, either, but it carried with it intense personal meaning?
About six months ago, I was walking down my sidewalk listening to an interview with Jamie Foxx on The Tim Ferriss Show podcast. Foxx was asked the question, “What’s on the other side of fear?”
At that moment, I was taken back to the Octagon. My opponents flashed in front of my eyes (namely Anthony “Rumble” Johnson).
His response was spot on; “Nothing,” he said. “Nothing is on the other side of fear.”
It’s true. There is nothing on the other side of fear. Once you fight Anthony Johnson, there’s nothing left.
I was dead set on that response until a few hours ago. My former trainer (and Fight Club member) posted this on social media. “I said that?”, I asked myself. In my head, I was thinking, “But I always say nothing is on the other side of fear.”
But then I remembered…During one of my AM Excellence videos, Andrew R. posted, in response to what’s on the other side of fear, “Everything worth having.” I responded, “That’s right. What’s on the other side of fear? Everything you want.”
So there you have, a paradox: Nothing and everything is on the other side of fear.
If you’d like some help in overcoming fear in your life, here you go:
That’s a wrap, my friends!
Life’s a Fight. Carpe Diem. Fight Well.
